Ibn al-Qayyim: Whoever loves something (in an unlawful way by transgressing etc) along with Allaah, Allaah will punish him using that very love against him. (i.e. that love will only increase that person in worry and sorrow) [ad-Daa’ wa Dawaa p. 301]
